New
Technology
ION FERRET
The new Ion Ferret supersedes
most beta / gamma instruments currently in use because the Ion Ferret
combines all their features into a single device.
The Ion Ferret is used as a
low and high level survey meter, as a frisker and can also be used as an
area monitor – all this in one package.
The Ion Ferret has an
exceptional sensitivity of 1 mR/h,
yet has a range to 10 R/h.
The rate of response is about 3 to 5 seconds, at low levels,
decreasing to a fraction of a second at high values.
The Ion Ferret is a first of
its kind. While it does not
detect alpha radiation, it is intended as a replacement for most other
survey meters, whether based on ionization chamber technology, or GM
detectors or scintillation detectors.
MODEL
- 1925
HEAVY
WATER LEAK DETECTOR
(T IN H2O MONITOR)
This monitor has been
designed for real time low-level detection of tritium in water in the
industrial environment of nuclear power plants.
Low MDA, reliability,
ruggedness and simplicity of operation is what sets this monitor apart
from laboratory type of the equipment.
The primary purpose of the
Model 1925 is to detect the leak of heavy water in nuclear power plants
that utilize CANDU reactors; however, it can be used for other purposes
such as monitoring changes in tritium content of ground water, rivers,
lakes or ocean currents.
The unit detects tritium
decay with Photo Multiplier Tubes (PMT) working in coincidence mode. Use
of highly effective PMTs, specially designed sampling cell to minimize
cosmic radiation and Cherenkov effects and 1” lead shielding provide for
low background noise of only One Count Per Second and sample
counting efficiency of 40%!!! Listed MDA is 3.7kBq/L;
however, the unit has been tested as low as 1.7kBq/L. The response
time of the unit is only 9 minutes!!!
